Jack McCarthy is a freelance percussionist and drummer based in Manchester, UK. He currently occupies one of the percussion chairs on The Lion King UK and Ireland Tour, but also takes time off to tour and record with a range of artists including Matthew Halsall’s Gondwana Orchestra, The Dee Brothers, Golden Fable and Shunya. Jack spent his formative years studying percussion extensively with master musicians in West Africa and Cuba and his drive to further his knowledge has led him, more recently to Southern Spain to explore flamenco and Arabic percussion techniques. He has performed all over Europe with various projects, most notably the Drum and Bass legend ‘London Elektricity’ - gigs that resulted in two live releases, Live in London (2017) and Live at Pohoda Festival, Slovakia (2017)
