Luke Marc Hughes (Independent/The Boy Royals)
Originally from the small Welsh town of Usk, Luke picked up the sticks at the early age of 6 after being in complete awe of one of the drummers he had seen on Top Of The Pops. Like many others he began playing on pots & pans which then turned to lessons and now at 23 he has been playing music for over 17 years. Luke has been lucky to achieve some great things to put under the belt such as playing great venues like The Royal Albert Hall, recording in some of London´s top studios, touring to some amazing places including Australia, America and New Zealand and achieving a high level distinction in his grade 8 drum kit when he was only just 14 years old.
Luke is a freelance drummer working with artists throughout the U.K, and most recently with The Boy Royals. The band has recently come out of the studio with Romesh Dodangoda (Manic Street Preachers, Lostprophets, Motorhead) and has been promoting second single ‘People Like Us´ with Luke in the hot seat for the release. The Boy Royals have been busy since their first release ‘Teenage Sky’ gigging up and down the country with bands like Hard-Fi, Feeder, Ocean Colour Scene and The View gaining support from notable DJ´s Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq.
Luke has also been working recently with guitarist and YouTube sensation Gareth Pearson, working in the studio on Gareth´s tracks and playing on live sessions. As far as the studio goes, Luke has also recorded drums for singer/songwriter Gavin Kaufman, Matthew Wilson, Patrick Plunkett, Loren Balaam and also writer/composer Tom Fox Davies working on the title track for Brea Grant´s (Heroes) new film ´BFF´ out this year.
